Leader of the Kapu movement Mudragada Padmanabam demanded that all the cases booked against the Kapu leaders be withdrawn immediately. He said the Kapu Ikhya Garjana, organized last Sunday was his own meeting, others had no connection whatsoever with the meeting and as such booking cases against them was wrong.
Following arson at Tuni on Sunday evening in which a train was fully burnt and two polic stations partially, the police registered cases against 27 senior Kapu leaders, who attended the ‘Kapu Ikhya Garjana’. Mudragada Padmanabham, who called the meeting, has been made A-1. The police have also confiscated Mudragada’s licensed gun.
The leaders, who were included in the FIR are: MM pallam Raju, Botsa Satyanarayana, Kanna Laxminarayana, Vatti Vasantha Kumar, Jyothula Nehru, Ambati Rambabu, V. Hanumantha Rao, Parupula Subbarao, Dadishetti Raja, GV Sudhakar, Adapa Nagendar, Nalla Vishnu, K.Tataji, Bandaru Srinivasa Rao, Mutyala Virabhadra Rao, MSR Naidu, Dhulipudi Chakram, Yella Dorababu, Aleti Prakash, Akula Ramakrishna, Vasireddy Yesudas, KVCH Mohan Rao, Jamithene Lankala, Jakkampudi Vijaya Laxmi and Ganga Bhavani.
Mudragada addressed the medai on Wednesday to react on the cases. He said cases filed under various section against Kapu leaders in connection with the Tuni violence must be withdrawn. ” It was my meeting. I was the one who organized the Kapu Ikhya Garjana to demand reservations for Kapus. But, the violence is conspiracy of the TDP which dispatched bad elements to Tuni to create hurdles to movement,”he said.
The Kapu leader said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu should give an assurance about the Kapu reservations by Thursday failing which he and his wife would go on an indefinite fast from February 5.
