Campaign comes to an end to Warangal Lok Sabha by today evening. Election Commission asked politicians, including former and present Union Ministers, State Ministers, MLAs and MPs were asked to leave by Warangal LS Constituency by Thursday 5 PM.
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Banwarlal has asked leader of all political parties to leave Warangal Lok Sabha Constituency by Thursday evening. Following the election campaigning for the Warangal Lok Sabha by-poll is coming to an end on Thursday evening, he asked all union and state ministers, former ministers, legislators to leave from all segments of Warangal Lok Sabha Constituency by 5 pm of Thursday. Election for the by-poll is scheduled on November 21st, for which the Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements, Banwarlal said.
Assuring that all steps have been taken to conduct a fair and peaceful polling, the CEO, clarified that the commission has received nine complaints on poll code violations from TDP, Congress, TRS and BJP. Action would be taken against those responsible for any poll code violations, if any after investigating into the complaints, he added.
Meanwhile, the election commission has also sought a clarification from the State government, asking announcing Christmas as a state festival, special scheme Kalayana Lakshmi for back ward classes and providing fine rice to hostels. The commission has asked the Telangana State Chief Secretary Rajeev Sharma, on these issues, as making announcements while the poll code in force amounts to violation of modal code of conduct. Steps would be taken after receiving response from the Telangana State government, Banwarlala said.
However, the Telangana State Chief Secretary has reportedly clarified that the announcements made were not a new ones, but they were announced much before the model code of conduct has come into force, and there is no violation of poll code by the Telangana government.
