CPM party politburo member Prakash Karat said that not even the slightest development has been seen in Telangana after formation of K Chandrashekhar Rao’s government and moreover looting had increased.
Addressing a public meeting in Khammam to mark conclusion of party’s state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram’s 125-day `Mahajana Padayatra’at Warangal cross road, last evening, he deplored that lack of health and education in the state had been appalling as well.
Stating that the state government is moving without a proper plan for development, he pointed out that the government has failed in fulfilling all its poll promises. The promises include three acres of land to Dalits, double bed room houses, regularisation of contract employees and providing one lakh jobs.
CPM’s former general secretary expressed concern that funds were not being allotted to deserving people under ST, SC and BC communities, due to unmindful act of Narendra Modi government by scrapping Planning Commission. By supporting such move, he said that the TRS government is also ignoring weaker sections.
He alleged that KCR government had been detaining tribals for cultivating podu lands and failed in fulfilling its promise of creating Panchayats for all tribal thandas. He said that both state and central governments have been diluting sub-plan act intended for empowerment of dalits and tribals.
He appreciated that Thammineni’s `Padayatra’ had received a very good response from all sections of people of Telangana. This is helping to inspire people all over the country to come together to fight for social justice, he added.
Veerabhadram said that they would intensify their agitations against failures of state government. He demanded that government should provide reservations to BCs in politics on the lines now BCs are getting reservations in local bodies. He also said that they would bring pressure on the government for classification of SCs.
