Versatile actor Prakash Raj has filed a defamation case against BJP MP Pratap Simha and sought a compensation of ₹ 1 from Mr. Simha.
Prakash Raj has been targeting Modi and his policies through social media since Gauri Lankesh’s murder. BJP MP Prathap Simha responded to Prakash Raj, but in ugly manner. On October 2, Simha made personal remarks on Prakash Raj’s posts on social media. He commented on the actor’s wife, and his late son. After Raj commented on Narendra Modi for his silence on the journalist Gauri Lankesh’s murder, Simha tweeted: “Being sad due to son’s death, having left your wife and run behind a dancer, do you Mr Raj have any right/ legitimacy/ worthiness to say anything to Yogi-Modi?’
But MP deleted that post later. However, Prakash Raj tweeted, “You can delete your abusive troll tweets n posts.. can you delete it from people’s memory”. Now Prakash Raju filed case on MP for defaming him on social media platforms. But he sought only one rupee as compensation. With regard to seeking damages of just one rupee, Prakash Raj explained that he had not filed the defamation case for the sake of money but just to teach to a lesson to persons holding responsible positions in the society and misusing social media platforms for their personal benefit.
