Over the past few months, the debate on simultaneous elections is increasing across the country. Narendra Modi is seriously contemplating the idea of Jamili elections . If everything goes fine, elections will be soon held on Jamili mode, that is – state and center elections happening simultaneously.
Union minister Sujana Chowdary revealed that Modi asked him to discuss the topic with NDA allies and get their opinion on this. So he will have dialogue with all allies including TDP and report their opinion and objections to PM. Moreover, President speech yesterday hoped for simultaneous elections in the country. He emphasized that frequent elections across the country imposing a heavy burden on the exchequer.
With a union minister discussing with various parties and President’s speech mentioning this topic, it became clear that union government is seriously considering Jamili elections. It is to be reminded here that before Gujarat elections, “Jamili” elections topic was put in cold storage for couple of months. Probably, if Congress had won Gujarat elections, definitely BJP would not have pulled the topic out of that cold storage. After Gujarat elections, BJP seems to have regained the confidence and trying to encash on the positive mood. Pros and Cons of Jamili elections were discussed in full detail in previous article (embed-able link: https://www.telugu360.com/analysis-jamili-elections-projected-panacea/) in T360.
