Elections to the press club in Hyderabad were conducted today (Sunday) in Hyderabad, bringing an end to a weeklong campaign that saw some fierce lobbying from multiple media groups. This year, a number of film media personalities entered the fray,going head to head with their political counterparts.

The election fever was palpable in media circles and the results will be announced in a few hours. Telangana CM KCR has promised a number of sops and land grants to Telangana journalists and that is one of the reasons for the intense competition for the elections this year.

While largely ceremonial in nature, Press Club elected members consider the post as a matter of prestige.
