While YSR Congress has demanded a high level inquiry into the ghastly incident of rat biting a new born child to death to find the facts and bring the responsible persons to book, Left political parties and mass organizations raised voice of protest at the way the hospital were functioning in the state.
‘The Guntur hospital incident, in which a new-born was attacked by rats is very heinous and the minister stating that the doctors are not fault even before the departmental inquiry began its proceedings is highly objectionable,” YSR Congress said. Party MLC Ummareddy Venkateswarlu demanded an inquiry by a high level committee to bring forth the facts and to bring the guilty to book.
Meanwhile, functionaries of various political parties staged dharna at the Guntur general hospital protesting the criminal negligence on the party of the hospital authorizes in maintaining safety in the hospital. members of YSR Congress party tried to barge into the hospital when health minister Kamineni Sinivas was inside interacting with patients. Similarly, workers of CPI , CPM and activists of Madiga reservation porata samiti (MRPS) also picketed the hospital with anti-government slogans. Political oranizatation demanded an exgratia of Rs 10 lakh to the parents of the victim. On otheside, health minister Kamineni Srinivas , after his visit to the hospital said stringent action would be taken against the guilty. Expressing anguish at the incident, the minister announced Rs.5 lakh compensation for the family of the victim.
