Rajkot: Cheteshwar Pujara kept his home crowd waiting for nearly half-an-hour to reach century while he was batting at 90* against the England on the third day of the first test match being played at Rajkot in Gujarat on Friday.
While his father among other family members were at the stands cheering him, Pujara managed to sneak a run to score his eighth test hundred. This is the second consecutive ton after he had scored hundred against the Kiwis in the final test match in the previous series.
Meanwhile, his partner Murali Vijay too patiently scored test ton within a few minutes after Pujara’s knock. Pujara is on 106 runs unbeaten by facing 177 balls, while Murali Vijay is at 103 facing 255 balls. It is an agonising day for the English bowlers out in the field as they got only one scalp of Goutham Gambhir who was out leg before in Stuart Broad bowling for just 29 runs.
Replying to the England’s innings of 537, India put up a 253 runs on board with just a loss of Gambhir’s wicket.
