Former Congress MPand APCC (Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee) Chief N Raghuveera Reddy wrote a letter to Chandrababu Naidu and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asking them to be away from the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. In his letter, Raghuveera Reddy stated, ‘both TDP and YSRCP should be away from the Rajya Sabha Elections. Thus, expressing the state’s dissent against the Centre, in view of AP Special Category Status, implementation of the pledges made in the AP Reorganization Act 2014.
The people are protesting against the negligence and discrimination shown towards the State by the Centre. The state has a quota of 2 (against the 3 seats) Rajya Sabha seats this time around. Hence, the State Government can bring pressure on the Centre, by ignoring the Rajya Sabha Elections’.
Raghuveera Reddy also voiced his opinion against the Cabinet Budget 2018 – 2019. ‘The Centre has done injustice towards Andhra Pradesh in the budget’ said the former MP.
Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu is making a plan to induct TDP leaders to the 3 Rajya Sabha seats available for the State. Though YSRCP has a scope to win one Rajya Sabha seat, it is highly sceptical. Few MLAs abandoned YSRCP for TDP in the past.
