Of late union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu has become an ardent fan of Chandrababu Naidu. Forgetting his status, Venkaiah is spending more time in Capital region accompanying Naidu in every foundation stone laying ceremony. Voluble Venkaiah Naidu’s speech begins with a praise of Chandrababu Naidu and ends with eulogizing the Andrha Pradesh chief minister.
Naidu, of course, reciprocates this by singing paean of praise of Venkaiah with equal vehemence. Why a senior leader like Venkaiah Naidu is going out of the way in patting Chandrababu Naidu on his back?
AP Congress president N Raghuvira Reddy wonders as to why Chandrababu Naidu, who announced, following Godhra killings, that he would arrest Modi if he came to Andhra Pradesh, turned into a disciple of Prime Minister Modi.
This is a political triangular convenience, APPCC president Raghuvira says.
He told media that reason of Venkaiah’s affection for Chandrababu Naidu was that the union minister was expecting Naidu’s help in getting Rajya Sabha nomination from Andhra Pradesh this year.
Venkaiah Naidu is retiring from the Upper House in June 2016. Election will be held in March or April. Now he is a Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka. With Karnataka going into the hands of Congress, Venkaiah has to search for a new state or retire to become a governor.
So, for him Andhra Pradesh, his home state, is a best bet. If AP chief minister is convinced that he would serve his interests in Delhi, a nomination from the state is guaranteed. Raghuvira says excessive flattery of Venkaiah has a motive.
Venkaiah is hopeful that Chandrababu Naidu would definitely help him get reelected to the Upper House forth time. According to Raghuvira, Venkaiah helped Chandrababu Naidu in diluting many cases filed against him with the intervention of centre, which includes cash for vote scam in Telangana. Both leaders, Raghuvira said, are working for mutual benefit instead of getting more funds and packages to Andhra Pradesh.
Raghuvira Reddy shared this with media on Monday afternoon. He said mutual flattery of two Naidu’s reached disgusting levels and suggested that it would be better they stopped this and worked to get benefits to the state which were announced by the UPA government at the time of passage of bifurcation bill.
