For the first time hitting Prime Minister Narenda Modi directly accusing him of `corrupt’, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today questioned Modi’s guts and challenged to face him in Lok Sabha. He further said that Prime Minister was personally terrified to allow him to open his mouth in Lok Sabha.
Claiming he has information proving Narendra Modi’s personal involvement in corruption, Rahul Gandhi made the statement while briefing the media along with a delegation of opposition party leaders at the Central Hall in Parliament.
He said he is requesting the government to allow him and the entire opposition to speak in the house. Recalling that they have been trying for a discussion in the parliament, he recalled that they have urged the Speaker to allow discussion dispensing all rules. “Unconditionally we want to have a discussion”, he added. But, he deplored that the government is not interested.
“We are pretty much unconditionally ready for a debate in parliament. The government is now allowing me to speak. I have personal information about Modi’s corruption. He is personally terrified. He cannot run away from the House’, he added. Accusing that Modi has destroyed millions of lives, for which he said he is personally answerable. “He owes the country an explanation”, he said.
It seems he became restless after the abrupt adjournment of the Lok Sabha, though both government and opposition stated they are ready for a debate on demonetization. Although the government said it was ready for a debate and even indicated PM Modi might speak in Lok Sabha, proceedings were disrupted yet again today as the House got adjourned for the day.
The winter session of Parliament, that began on November 16 and is scheduled to close Friday, has been a near wash-out with frequent disruptions over the government’s demonetization move. Instead of answering to Rahul’s challenge, the BJP tried to accuse him as a `desperate’ leader and a futile attempt. Party spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said branded it as a `comedy’.
