Hyderabad: Railway track was washed away following incessant rains near Gurazala, about 100 kms from Guntur town in Andhra Pradesh. Several trains have been cancelled on the route and rail traffic is disrupted several hours from Monday midnight. Railway authorities swung into action to take up repair works at Gurazala.
Several rivulets, water bodies are in full spate with the rains lashing both the Telugu States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana following low-pressure formed over Bay of Bengal due to southwest monsoon.
As rain forecast for at least three days starting from Tuesday, the Telangana and the AP governments directed the officials to take adequate measures to ensure the safety of people.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao spoke to Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and revenue officials to be alert following moderate to heavy rains in the State. KCR asked the District Collectors to respond immediately if the water-levels in the district are on the rise. The authorities were instructed to constantly check the water-level at the railway tracks, causeways and bridges to avert any accidents.
Situation turned worse in Hyderabad city as commuters mostly the IT employees are facing severe problems to reach their offices. Traffic on stretches leading to Hitech City is moving at snails pace.
