Recent heavy rains in three districts of Andhra Pradesh had washed way important roads worth of Rs 800 Cr. State government seeks funding from NABARD and other financial institutions to mop up Rs 1500 Cr for laying new roads.
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Transport, Roads and Buildings Minister Siddha Raghava Rao said that the recent heavy rains triggered floods in Chittoor, Nellore and Kadapa districts had washed away roads worth of Rs 800 Cr. The government is seeking funds from NABARD and other financial institutions and the Central Agencies like Road Development Fund to re-lay the roads with an estimated cost of Rs 1,500 Cr.
The state government had already submitted its loss due to the heavy rains pegged at Rs 3,700 and odd crore to the Centre, and currently an Inter-Ministerial Team is touring the rain hit districts to assess the loss caused, and to submit a report for extending financial assistance to the state from the Government of India.
