Poor Kavitha Kalwakuntla…!!! Despite being chief minister’s daughter and a key member of the TRS, she is unable to become a minister. She tried hard to become a minister during Modi 1.0 at the Centre. That never happened. Her attempts to enter KCR’s cabinet too have come to a naught.
Her term as an MLC is all set to end early next year. Whether she would be re-nominated to the legislative council is not known. With just 18 months to go for the assembly elections, there appears to be no chance of her becoming a minister in the state. Now the buzz is that she could be sent to the Rajya Sabha in place of Banda Prakash, who has now been made an MLC.
TRS watchers say that Banda Prakash, a Mudiraj, may be made a minister to counter the influence of Eatala Rajender among the Mudiraj community. With Banda Prakash becoming a member of the State cabinet, Kavitha would be sent to the Rajya Sabha in his place, the sources reveal. This, in other words, means that there is no chance of Kavitha becoming a minister anytime soon. Moreover, KCR may have to accommodate people like Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and former Siddipet collector Venkatrama Reddy in the cabinet.
Some say that Rajya Sabha MP Dharmapuri Srinivas’ term too will expire soon. Kavitha may be sent to te Rajya Sabha in his place. Whatever, it is certain that she may not be able to do much as a Rajya Sabha member. It will only have ornamental value, say those in the know.
