Rangasthalam OS Deal
Actor Ram Charan and creative filmmaker Sukumar teamed up for the first time and they are coming up with a rustic entertainer titled as Rangasthalam 1985 which is set in the backdrop of Godavari belt during the 1980s. The interesting onlocation stills that have been released in the due course since the film’s start are grabbing the attention of audience and the recently released first look poster featuring Charan in a complete mass avatar has furthered the expectations.
In terms of its pre release trade, Rangasthalam is doing an impressive business in all areas of Telugu states. It is learnt that the film’s theatrical rights of Nizam area have been bagged by UV Creations for 18 Crores. This is a stunning price considering Charan’s market and Sukumar’s track record.
Interestingly, the Nizam deal turned out to be a jackpot for Ram Charan. Here is why. Mythri Movie Makers, the production house behind Rangasthalam, gave Nizam rights to Charan as his remuneration and he struck a stunning deal with UV.
Also, the overseas rights of Rangasthalam are with Sukumar and he is quoting a price in the range of 9-10 Crores. However, distributors are not showing much interest at the quoted price as Ram Charan’s previous outing Dhruva failed to break even in overseas. Despite emerging as a decent hit at the domestic box office, Dhruva turned out to be a loss venture in overseas. This is turning out to be a big liability for Rangasthalam’s overseas business.
