In a rare gesture, one of the oldest and prestigious universities of America, Chicago State University (CSU)has selected Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababau Naidu for the award of doctorate of Humane Letters. President of University, Wayne Watson, informed Naidu about the decision of the Honorary Degree Committee of the University to honor him with the doctorate. ” The decision to award you the degree is the testimony to the highest regard that the university holds for you and for your extraordinary abilities to envision, plan and bring to fruition transformative changes for the good of the great people of Andhra Pradesh,” Watson said in the letter. Wayne requested the CM to accept the award.
Watson also said that the university, since its inception in 1867, has never awarded this singular honor to a foreign political dignitary. ” Your government and the university are driven by common core values.,” he said in letter and praised Naidu by stating that the he had succeeded in empowering farmers, women and underserved populaces and uplifting whole communities to lead better lives. Upon receiving the award, Naidu will address the students, faculty, and business, political and community leaders on a date convenient to the chief minister.
