Veteran actor Mohan Babu is in news today in a cheque bounce case. A Hyderabad based court sentenced one-year imprisonment for Mohan Babu after director YVS Chowdary approached the court regarding his remuneration for directing Saleem, a film that released in 2009. After the film ended up as a flop, Mohan Babu kept a part of Chowdary’s remuneration on hold. After Chowdary mounted pressure on Mohan Babu, the veteran actor issued a cheque that bounced. Despite several attempts and industry big wigs trying to solve the issue, it remained unclosed. It is then YVS Chowdary approached the court.
Soon after the news about the court sentence came out, Mohan Babu issued a clarification that the cheque was not issued for Saleem remuneration. He said that he paid one more cheque for Chowdary to direct his next project. After the debacle of Saleem, Mohan Babu wished not to do the film and he asked Chowdary not to cash it. Mohan Babu said that Chowdary tried to cash it even after asking him not to do that.
Telugu360 spoke to the close sources of YVS Chowdary and they clarified that this is the cheque was given as a part of remuneration for Saleem. Manchu Vishnu himself clarified that there are disturbances between Mohan Babu and YVS Chowdary while shooting for Saleem. Chowdary’s sources argued why would Mohan Babu pay one more advance when all is not well between them. The cheque was issued on December 11th, a day before the release of Saleem and Mohan Babu asked YVS Chowdary to cash it after a month. Chowdary waited with patience and wanted to solve through industry people but Mohan Babu never responded. The court after a thorough investigation revealed their decision today.
