Already, rumours have spread widely that Jagan Regime is favouring Megha Krishna Reddy company to bag the contract of electric buses. Megha’s Olectra buses are made in partnership with a Chinese company. Megha Krishna Reddy is also using Chinese technology in Polavaram works as against German designs used during Chandrababu regime. In this case, the APSRTC invited tenders for hiring 350 electric buses. The officials expected only Olectra and one or two other companies to take part in the bids.
To their utter dismay, nearly 18 companies filed their tenders. Tata, Ashok Leyland, Eicher and other big companies are also in the race. Their representatives made strong pleas for bagging the tenders by showcasing their respective high level technologies. This has stunned RTC officials who are now in a dilemma how to go ahead with tendering process. Ashok Leyland has its plant in AP. Will Jagan support this local company?
Reports say that the government took necessary care to ensure that Krishna Reddy bags electric buses tenders. Because his Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) had taken Polavaram works by bidding far less than estimated tender cost. This was just to make Jagan’s re-tendering a success. Will the government now compensate Megha now in RTC tenders? It is indeed a big challenge for Jagan to prove his commitment to transparency.
