The rebel TDP leaders, who merged their group with the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), are reportedly planning a statewide coup soon against the TDP. Seen as the second stage of revolt against the TDP, this time the drama will be staged outside the Assembly complex.
The present revolt is just confined to Assembly and Legislative Council of the state. Now, with the full backing from TRS, the former TDP leaders are planning to raid the offices of TDP in all districts- from the district headquarters to Mandal levels and claim they are the real TDP and later pass the resolution merging the party with TRS.
According to the sources, this coup is planned to liquidate the Telugu Desam Party in all districts of the state. The same strategy, designed for the coup in Assembly, will be reenacted in the districts as well , wherever circumstances favorable . Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Palakurthi MLA, is said to have been asked to plan the second stage revolt against the Telugu Desam party, which is being totally rejected at polls in the state. The rebels are under the impression that the people will support their move.
” In Assembly, all the defector MLAs met and resolved that they form the majority and their group be treated as the main Telugu Desam party. Similarly, they urged the speaker that as their group consisted of more than one third of the total strength of the TDP legislature party (15) they be allowed to merge with TRS. The same process will followed in the districts as well,” a senior leader of rebel TDP said.
In the districts, the officer bearers of the TDP will meet and adopt a resolution to merge the party with TRS. There they don’t even need anybody’s permission. With this the local TDP offices would become the offices of TRS and a pink flag will be hoisted.
Though this move is bound to create some tension , the rebel TDP leaders are confident that they are backed by the ruling TRS and, the TDP would get no support from any quarters as the party has already been branded as ‘Andhra Party’.
After the completion of the ‘occupy TDP’ process, the TRS , according to sources, has plans to organize a public meeting in Hyderabad’s Nizam colleges grounds or Parade Grounds to celebrate the triumph of Telangana state in politics and development.
The coup is being planned in the backdrop of large scale migration of TDP leaders to TRS in the districts along with their MLAs. Of the 15 MLAs, TDP lost 12 MLAs. These MLAs brought all the important leaders of their areas into to the TRS. Consequently, there is no district committee of TDP which has remained intact in the state. So, the TRS is said to have given go-ahead to the scheme B of banishing the TDP from the pink state.
Some MLCs belonging to TDP had already joined the TRS last year along with Congress MLCs.
