YSRCP has already announced the list of 175 MLA candidates for upcoming assembly elections and is currently doing intense campaigning across the state. However it seems YSR CP is going to face problems because of the rebel MLA candidates planning to contest as independents.
YSRCP had more than 3 aspirants in many of the constituencies. Most of them have been waiting for the party ticket in 2019 election. But as they didn’t get tickets, they want to try their luck by contesting as independent candidates. This is causing concern for the party as some of these leaders have some strength in the constituencies as they have been working there for long time.
Yelamanchili Ravi from Vijayawada, Dadi family , Ponnur ex MLA Ravi Venkata Ramana are some of the leaders who got disappointed with the decision of Jagan. Dadi family got party posts but that is not what they joined into YSRCP for. Even many other leaders who worked for more than 3 to 4 years as incharge coordinators for the constituencies are planning to file nominations as independent candidates. Even though most of the people vote based on the party symbol, some of these leaders having personal base among people is making ysrcp leaders worry about this. When multiple parties are contesting the elections, even the slightest split of votes may completely change the dynamics.
We will have to wait and see how will be the impact of these rebels in the upcoming assembly elections.
