After abducting three TDP leaders and with government least worried about their fate, Maoists have now created red terror in the Agency area. The CPI (Maoist), which is opposing the reopening of bauxite mining by the Teludu Desam government, has been putting pressure on TDP leaders from Agency mandals by asking them to quit the party protesting government’s move to allow the Jindal and RAK companies to start their mining operations.
The fate of the three abducted men–TDP mandal unit president Mamidi Balayya Padal, party senior leader Vandalam Balayya and district committee member Mukkala Mahesh– is not known causing consternation among the family members. They have been abducted on October 7.
All mandal level committees of ruling Telugu Desam party from G.K. Veedhi, G. Madugula and Chintapalli have resigned from party, with CPI (Maoist) warning them of serious consequences, if they did not quit and join the movement against the bauxite mining proposed by the government in the Agency.
Three directors of Agriculture Market Committees of Paderu, G. Madugula and Chintapalli also have sent in their resignations. Few days ago, M. Manikumari, former Tribal Welfare Minister, resigned from the three-member party committee set up for the Paderu Assembly constituency. The warning has reportedly come from Maoist leader Jambri, who addressed a party rally near Koyyuur-GK Veedhi border on Tuesday. There are eleven mandals in Agency area. According the information reaching Hyderabad, all almost all committees of TDP have got the threat from the Maoist to quit the party opposing the Bauxite mining.
