As expected, the inclusion of ‘Section 8’ of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act.2014 as an unimplemented item in the 17-point resolution adopted by the Assembly two days back stirred the hornet’s nest in Telangana.
There has been an all-round protest against chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu reading out the sensitive provision that deals with special powers the joint governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh can exercise in the joint Capital of Hyderabad. Even though there has been no condemnation either from chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao or any other government functionaries, many organizations, which KCR relied on during T-movement reacted on the resolution. Telangana state government’s special representative in New Delhi Dr Venugopalachary took strong objection to incorporation of ‘Section 8’ as an unimplemented item. Chary said this was an attempt by the Andhra Pradesh chief minister to divert the attention of people from his failures in the state. ” There has arisen no law and order problem in Hyderabad ever since state of Telangana was inaugurated. People in Hyderabad, which is a joint capital, have been living in harmony. On the other hand, it is Telugu Desam party that is facing resentment in Andhra Pradesh. So the TDP government is planning to incite the people against Telangana for all the troubles of the party,” Chary said in Delhi.
G Deviprasad, Hon.president of TNGO’s association, which played crucial role in the T-movement, said TDP government was trying to divide the people of Andhra region and Telangana, who had now been living in Hyderabad in harmony. ” This harmony has not been expected by the TDP. A rare unity has been established between Seemandhra people and Telangana people and the TDP moved the resolution with ‘Section 8’ only undermine this rare unity,” Deviprasad said. Another leader of T-NGO Karepu Ravinder said Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu was frightened by the verdict of Hyderabad people in the GHMC elections. Uable to swallow the line taken by Seemandhra People in the GHMC elections , Naidu was trying to foment trouble by raising special powers to governor and asking the centre to implement the provision of ‘Section 8′ without any reason.
Telangana lecturers’ association secretary general P Madhusudhan Reddy and advocate JAC chairman Rajender Reddy also condemned Andhra Pradesh move to include the ‘Section 8″, which deals with a situation when law and order gets out of hand, in the list of unimplemented provision of Telangana Act. ” This is an attempt by AP rulers to prolong their stay in Hyderabad and the construction of new capital has been non-starter and steeped in serious irregularities. Telangana people are watching the designs of Andhra rulers. If go ahead, they rulers of Andhra Pradesh would have to pay wages for it,” Madhusudhan Reddy said.
