More than 300 retirees held protest at GPO, Abids on Thursday, demanding disbursal of retirement benefits as ordered by CAT. “We were recruited in 1980 as Reserved Trained Pool. Later we were regularised in 1986. We have served all our lives in the Postal Department and retired. But it is unfortunate that we are not being paid retirement benefits completely,” said P Yadagiri, a retired Postal employee speaking to Telugu360.com.
“We have been protesting for our rightful benefits and have even approached Courts and CAT. Both Courts and CAT have given rulings in our favour. In spite, the Chief Post Master General, Hyderabad region is not taking steps to clear our dues and ensure that our retirement benefits are disbursed,” further complained P Yadagiri.
The retired postal staff complained that Chief Post Master General and other staff have even been humiliating them and not even giving appointment to meet them to express their grievances. Left with no option, retired postal staff took to streets.
