Telanaga CM Revanth Reddy launched Indira Mahila Shakti Program on Saturday on the occasion of International Women’s Day. At a specially held program at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, CM Revanth Reddy launched the ambitious initiative aimed at making one crore Telangana women crorepatis.
In the first phase of Indira Mahila Shakti program, CM Revanth Reddy has launched 150 buses to be run on hire basis with Telangana State Road Transport Corporation and owned by Self Help Groups.
According to the modalities of Indira Mahila Shakti Scheme, Self Help Groups (SHGs) of women will buy buses and give to Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) on hire.
Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), the monitoring agency of Mandala Mahila Samakhyas (MMS), the Self Help Groups, will fund women Groups for buying buses.
As TGSRTC has already given approval for taking buses on hire, SERP will buy buses through Mandala Mahila Samakhyas and give to TGSRTC for using.
According to the terms decided till now, TGSRTC will pay Rs 77,220 towards each bus per month as hire charges. Besides it will also pay another Rs 58,857 per month towards EMI. As each bus costs Rs 36 lakh, TGSRTC will pay EMI on 5th of every month for the next 7 years.
While payment towards EMI is already assured, women SHGs will earn Rs 77,220 on each bus, making it their income. This is how CM Revanth Reddy wants to bring smiles on Telangana Adabiddas (women) face and strengthen them financially.
While total 600 buses will be taken by TGSRTC on hire basis, in the first phase, 150 buses are being pushed into service from March 8 onwards, celebrating the International Women’s Day.
Besides making women bus owners, Revanth Reddy Sarkar has also devised a comprehensive strategy to ensure that women run petrol bunks, own solar power plants, EV charging stations and other profit making ventures.
Earlier in the day, CM Revanth Reddy laid foundation for the Chakali Ilamma University, Koti. After upgrading Koti Women’s College into University, the University is being built with about Rs 500 Cr.
Thus, on International Women’s Day, Revanth Reddy-led Congress Government has showered several life changing sops on Telangana women.
