The sleeper hit, which stars Vijay Devarakonda and Ritu Varma, set the cash registers ringing in all areas of release . The sensible and entertaining narration coupled with the impressive performances by the lead pair proved to be the selling points for this romantic drama. As there are no notable releases in the last couple of weeks, all sections of audience have lapped up this cute film big-time.
Now, let’s see why Pelli Choopulu is creating history in Overseas. The film was bagged by an debutante overseas distributor for a relatively low price, 12 lakhs( Approx 20K). Till now, the film has grossed more than $ 700K. So, the total share will be around $ 500K, which is 25 times the investment.
Last year, Nani’s blockbuster Bhale Bhale Magadivoi has been termed the biggest overseas hit in terms of return on investment. The film was bought for 80 K and it has collected $ 1.6 M and the final share is $ 1.2 M. This is 15 times investment. Now, Pelli Choopulu has clearly emulated the record set by Bhale Bhale Magadivoi and will be the most profitable in overseas history.
Going back in time to the pre Rentrak days, Dil Raju’s Bommarillu was termed the biggest blockbuster in overseas during those days.
