Andhra Pradesh Forest Department Minister Bojjala Gopala Krishna was at the receiving end in Nagari Assembly constituency in Chittoor district and police had to intervene to save the minister. The minister while participating in the ongoing Janma Bhoomi – Maa Vooru programme had tried to win over the people by taking a dig at the suspended YSRCP MLA R K Roja, who represents the constituency.
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Forest Minister Bojjala Gopala Krishan has found himself at the receiving end when he was told that the YSRCP MLA from Nagari R K Roja might have been suspended from the State Assembly. But, not from her constituency and the people who elected her.
The forest minister learnt to have assumed that the YSRCP MLA from Nagari constituency had lost her credibility among people of her constituency after her suspension from the State Assembly for a period of one year. To make use of a public meeting held during the ongoing Janma Bhoomi – Maa Vuru (JB-MV)at Nagari on Sunday, the minister took a dig at Roja and tried to win over people with his oratory skills. The minister said that it was unfortunate to see that the people of Nagari assembly constituency have an MLA like Roja, who was suspended by the State Assembly. But, he quickly added, telling people not to worry about the suspension of their MLA, as the TDP government would protect their interest. However, to the surprise of the minister, the local leaders, including those from the YSRCP and people told the minister, “Roja might have been suspended from the State Assembly, but not from her assembly constituency and from the people who had elected her to represent them.
Before the minister could recover from his embarrassment the TDP leader present there had come to the rescue of the minister picking up an argument with the local leaders and YSRCP supporters. This had led to the entire JB-MV programme to come to a grinding halt.
Finding there was not let off in the situation, at last, the police had intervened escorting out the local leaders and supporters of the YSRCP out of the venue, to allow the programme to continue. But, the agitating leaders remained the minister that he had come to attend a government programme and it was not a TDP meeting to make political statements. Though the programme had been completed with under the protective eye of police, the TDP leaders are finding it difficult to come to terms with the support and popularity of the suspended MLA has in her constituency, despite her suspension from the State Assembly
