If managing review writers could do miracles for films, there are those films that are rated 4 stars by our so-called popular critics on the web media and still ended up as disasters as the coin-showers never happened. And yesterday, a hero’s team has managed to pull off a cheap feat, if our sources are to be believed.
Other day Tollywood has seen two films hitting the marquee, with one being a love story featuring two star-kids, the other one a horror movie that got a struggling hero in the driver’s seat. As the struggling hero spent almost 60 lacs to 1 crore on promotions itself, many thought his film will be screened first to media, such that his film’s review will be out sooner. As everyone expected, his film got screened first, but there is no review anywhere until the evening.
The team that produced the love story was confident that their film’s review will be out only in the evening as they have shown the film to media post the lunch. But the so-called big critics who dont even watch films if they are not invited to a preview-show, have come up with the reviews of this love story first.
A little dig into the happening revealed to us that the horror movie’s hero has requested these media folks to delay his film’s review such that the flop talk will not be out into people soon. And that came at the cost of the other film, whose makers are expecting that the flop talk of their own film won’t spread faster as reviews will turn up late on websites.
Thinking that delaying reviews will help their films, it looks like these filmmakers are taking the audience for fools. Doesn’t the audience know where to look for genuine reviews and don’t they get word-of-mouth at theatres?
