A cricketer would get satisfaction after scoring a ton, bagging a hefty endorsement or winning an award. The God of Indian Cricket, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, on Wednesday, got an ultimate satisfaction on witnessing the rapid development of Puttamraju Kandriga, the village he adopted a couple of years ago in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district.
The sports star, who made his test debut 27 years ago to make a mark of his own, left memorable feelings for the villagers and officials with his down-to-earth approach and friendly nature. He launched developmental works worth Rs.2.79 crore, mingled well with village elders, interacted with a woman to know about the status of development and had a tea with an youngster. He distributed cricket kits to local players.
Later, he posted the following in his twitter handle:

It was duly tagged to the Prime Minister’s Office. Recollecting his previous visit to the village, Sachin, after his two-hour-long whirlwind visit, said: “The village transformed beyond recognition. Very happy to see this sea change. I am always there to ensure the development of this village and I’ll visit you again.”
Ever since Sachin adopted this dusty remote village under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) of the Union government, it shot into the fame and district officials made frequent visits to attend to the issues of locals. Sachin inaugurated a big community hall, built at a cost of Rs.1.15 crore, much to the joy of villagers.
The district officials said that roads, underground drains, drinking water lines and the community hall were developed at a cost of Rs. 6 crore of which Rs. 2.8 crore got released from Sachin’s Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).
