Olympic Silver medallist PV Sindhu is going to get a swanky BMW from the Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, a goodwill ambassador to Rio Olympics, on August 28 in Hyderabad.
Former Cricketer and president of Hyderabad Badminton Association Chamundeswarnath disclosed this in a phone-in given to ABN-Andhra Jyothi channel on Sunday. The channel interviewed Chamundi, a close pal of Sachin, when Sindhu’s parents–Ramana and Vijaya–were in the studios in a live programme.
Sachin had gifted a car to Sindhu two years ago. “Sachin had announced that he would present another car if he wins a medal in Olympics. He is coming to Hyderabad to honour the word on August 28,” Chamundi said.
He also said that he had spoken to the Telangana Badminton Association President and Minster K.T.Rama Rao to develop the game furthermore. “We have an agenda to develop the game. International coaches are going to come here next year,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sachin profusely congratulated Gopichand for his phenomenal contribution to badminton. “Congrats #PullelaGopichand for helping develop some wonderful Indian #badminton talent to take on the world. Hats off & look forward to more!,” the master blaster said in his twitter.
Sachin had handed over a BMW from Chamundi to Saina Nehwal in August 2012 for winning a bronze in London Olympics.
However Sachin didn’t respond to a fan’s request to promote sports in a specific way. He was noncommittal to a tweet that reads: “Sir, why don’t you sponsor one Athlete or open such academy where India can produce some medalist in next Olympic!!
