Those who have even least bit of knowledge about cricket, must be aware of the innumerable records the ‘Cricket God’ Sachin Tendulkar had created on field. Now, a documentary film made on him is performing just like him at box office.
“Sachin: A Billion Dreams”, a first of its docudrama to have been made on a cricketer in the country, has performed excellently over the first weekend. After taking a great opening of Rs 8.4 crore last Friday, the film held well and collected 9.2 and 10 crore respectively on Saturday and Sunday to take the total opening weekend collections to Rs 27.60 crore. Given that we are talking about not exactly a feature film but a docudrama, the numbers are phenomenal.
The film earned the adulation of fans of Sachin and cricket sport in general despite receiving mixed reviews. Sachin’s extensive promotions have also helped the film grab eyeballs. With Baahubali 2 slowing down and new releases lacking spine enough to challenge Sachin’s incomparable charisma, the film is expected to earn decent moolah in the coming days.
