Former CBI joint director “JD” Lakshmi Narayana is campaigning in Visakhapatnam MP constituency and his speeches are being appreciated by Vizag people.
In fact, Vizag MP constituency is considered “urban” constituency with most of the voters being educated and people have always taken rational decisions rather than emotional decisions. If they like the candidate, they don’t even bother whether he is local to the constituency or not. In fact, most of the MPs who won here are ‘non-locals’. For e.g. in 2004, Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy won over Dr M. V. V. S. Murthi, who is local (now his grandson and Lokesh’s co-brother is contesting from the same constituency). In 2009, Daggubati Purandeswari won over local leader Palla Srinivasa Rao. It seems Vizag people prefer the leaders with no criminal or faction background. In 2014, Kambhampati Hari Babu, who was considered underdog before elections defeated Y.S. Vijayamma.
‘JD’ Lakshmi Narayana is giving some interesting analogy to Vizag people. He is saying ‘increasing land grabbing activities’ is the first step for any city to turn ‘unsafe’. He compared with Mumbai where he worked as a top police officer and told that, once land grabbing activities start, there will be more goons in the city and more illegal money in the city. Once that happens, gradually the crime rate increases in the city, he added. He told, ‘Safe Vizag’ is the primary focus and as a police officer, he knows how to curb the criminal activities that arise as consequences of land grabbing. His comments seem to be indirectly targetted at MVV Satyanarayana, YSRCP MP candidate who was earlier arrested in land grabbing case.
Vizag people are appreciating Lakshmi Narayana’s speeches and it seems they are getting convinced with his cogently put arguments.
