The Nagarjuna Sagar high drama played by Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, is only for his selfish ends, observed former MLA and senior TDP leader, Dhulipala Narendra Kumar, on Saturday.
Narendra Kumar told media persons at the party headquarters that the high drama played by Jagan at Nagarjuna Sagar is nothing but part of his political game. The Chief Minister, who never bothered about the injustice being done to the State in sharing of the Krishna river waters and at least did not write to the Centre on this, has woken up suddenly in the name of war against the injustice being done to the farmers, is nothing but cheating the farming community, he felt.
In the past four-and-half years Jagan has never taken up the matter and did not raise even his voice on the rights of the State on river water sharing, Narendra Kumar stated. Even when the farmers in the delta area came onto the roads to highlight their problems on crop damage due to lack of irrigation water and when the tail-end area farmers raised their voice, Jagan did not respond and was not worried to resolve their problems, he observed.
When the Chief Minister inaugurated the Varikapudisela lift irrigation scheme he never worried about the cotton crop getting dried up in Palnadu area due to lack of water supply, the TDP senior leader pointed out. It is nothing but bringing in differences among the Telugu people of both the States by raising the water dispute at the election time, Narendra felt.
Jagan should reply whether he is not trying to rekindle the regional hatred which has already dried up for his political gains, Narendra asked. During the TDP regime, Chandrababu Naidu has spent Rs 68,000 cr on irrigation sector while Jagan has spent a mere Rs 32,000 cr, he pointed out and asked if Jagan is really serious about the farmers welfare he would have spent at least more than what Chandrababu has spent on irrigation sector, the former MLA remarked.
Jagan has allocated very little amount for irrigation projects, Narenda Kumar said and stated that the State is now facing severe drought only because of the policies adopted by Jagan. It is really atrocious that when the farming community is in deep distress, the Chief Minister did not bother to extend any kind of assistance to them, the TDP senior leader stated.
