Saina Nehwal won Australian open 2016 super series defeats Sun Yu
Ace Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal (World No.7) clinched Australian Open Super Series title (the maiden title of the season) ahead of the most crucial Rio Olympics by beating the London Olympic Bronze medallist Sun Yu (World No.12) of China 11-21, 21-14, 21-19 on Sunday.
Saina came back with solid force in the second game and dominated the proceedings after changing her racquet. Saina, who beat World No-2 Yihan Wang (China) 21-8, 21-12 in semi-finals held a day before, found her lost form and rhythm.
The victory over the 2011 world champion and 2012 Olympic silver medallist, Yihan, seeded fourth, in the semis seems to have boosted Saina’s morale. Sun Yu, at least three occasions, rejected Saina’s request for the change of shuttle but she flatly refused igniting the Indian star’s zeal for a triumph.
