Tollywood actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been aggressively promoting handloom industry. In her heart touching speech at woven on fading handloom industry, she asked “Do we want to be a generation that caused the death of tradition and culture?” She further ensures to do everything in possible within her power to change the lives of the handloom sector of Telangana.

Opposition party in Telangana, Congress came down heavily on the TRS government for naming Samantha as Brand Ambassdor for Handlooms. Gadwal MLA D K Aruna on Tuesday reportedly pointed that the brand ambassador does not belong to the state.
She said that the sarees distributed during Bathukamma festival were shown as handlooms, by Minister of textiles K T Rama Rao while they were actually produced in power looms of Sircilla . Aruna said that the TRS government is extending step motherly treatment towards erstwhile Mahbubnagar district where handloom industry is mammoth.
She accused the TRS government of double standards in not just the appointment of the brand ambassdor but also in several instances like GST.
