Sankranthi season is one of the most preferred windows by Tollywood filmmakers to release big ticket movies. This year, Venky and Varun Tej starrer F2 emerged as Sankranthi winner despite tough competition from other biggies. Now, the race for 2020 Sankranthi season is already on and a bunch of highly anticipated films are aiming for release during the festival.
Superstar Mahesh Babu’s 26th film Sarileru Neekevvaru, which is expected to commence shooting soon, has already been confirmed for Sankranthi release. Successful director Anil Ravipudi is once again banking on Sankranthi sentiment as his last outing F2 emerged as a blockbuster during the same season. Producers Anil Sunkara and Dil Raju are confident of wrapping up the shoot by December end. After six years, Mahesh Babu’s film is releasing for Sankranthi.
Another big ticket film which is aiming for Sankranthi release is the untitled film of Allu Arjun and Trivikram Srinivas which is currently on floors. The second schedule of this entertainer is happening in Hyderabad and the makers are planning to release it as Sankranthi treat for audience.
Nandamuri Balakrishna is eyeing Sankranthi slot for the fifth consecutive time with his next film which was launched recently. KS Ravi Kumar of Jai Simha fame is directing this full length entertainer which is slated for release in January next year. The regular shooting will commence shortly and will be completed in less than 5 months.
Akkineni Nagarjuna, who is currently busy wrapping up his forthcoming film Manmadhudu 2, is planning to commence the sequel to his blockbuster movie Soggade Chinni Nayana which released in Sankranthi 2016. He is likely to finish the shooting formalities by the end of December and make the film ready for Sankranthi 2020. Kalyan Krishna will helm this sequel.
Apart from these biggies, Parbhas’ romantic entertainer with Radha Krishna Kumar is tentatively scheduled for release in early 2020. However, there is no official word from the makers regarding the film’s release date. It remains to be seen if Prabhas joins the Sankranthi race which is already jam-packed with other big ticket films.
All in all, it is going to be a movie festival for audience during Sankranthi 2020.
