After raking solid revenues in the first weekend, Sankranthi releases slowed a bit in the second week. All three films, Khaidi No 150, Gautamiputra Satakarni and Shathamanam Bhavathi registered only lukewarm collections on Friday, starting the second weekend on a slightly dull note. Trade circles are expecting better numbers on Saturday and Sunday.
Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No 150 collected a measly $ 37K on Friday, taking the total to $ 2283K. The break even mark is not far away and the film is expected to perform well in the second week due to the reduced ticket prices.
Balakrishna’s Gautamiputra Satakarni, which is already into profit zone, too had a slow Friday as it managed to collect $ 44K, taking the total close to $ 1.5M ($ 1498K). Even Balakrishna’s visit to US didn’t impact the collections much. Organisers have failed to create good buzz regarding his visit and only the location where Balakrishna greeted fans registered good numbers.
Sankranthi dark horse Shathamanam Bhavathi, which surprised the trade with a superb first weekend, started its second week on relatively slower note. The family entertainer collected $ 34K on the second Friday and the total is $ 589K.
So, it is slow start in the second week for all three films in OS. We have to wait and see how the three films perform towards the second weekend.
