Sarve Satyanarayana Rao filed his nomination papers as Congress candidate for the Warangal (SC)Lok Sabha by-election this afternoon, just before the closure of nominations. Following the mysterious fire accident in the house of original candidate Siricall Rajaiah in which his daughter-in-law and three grandsons charred to death, Congress high Command replaced him with Sarve. Following the confirmation phone call from Rahul Gandhi Office, Sarve, a two-term MP rushed to Warangal and filed his nomination at the eleventh hour.
A law graduate, Sarve started his political career as trade union leader. Later he joined Telugu Desam party and got elected to Assembly in 1985. In 2004 he contested from Siddipet Lok Sabha constituency in Medak district as Congress candidate and won the seat. After delimitation of constituency in 2009, he shifted his base to Malkajgiri general constituency and earned the distinction of being won from a general constituency in the state. Later, he was inducted into union council of ministers in October 2012.
