Smiles spread over the faces of TDP leaders in Andhra Pradesh, with the Supreme Court’s conviction against AIADMK general secretary Sasikala Natarajan in the disproportionate assets case. As the leader of the opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy is also facing similar cases, by invoking today’s judgement TDP leaders attempted to demoralise the opposition cadre.
Right from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to several party MLAs asserted that this judgement indicating much more severe `sentence’ to the YSRCP chief.
It was Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who has reportedly first mentioned this case. During party’s coordination committee meeting this morning, he wondered if the conviction is 4 years in Rs 66 crore corruption case, what would be fate of those involved in lakhs of crores of rupees worth corruption charges.
It may be recalled that TDP has been accusing Jaganmohan Reddy of involving in a lakh crore rupees corruption allegations. Party MLAs indicating that such conviction may makes the opposition leader to keeps away from the political scene, stating that amount to disqualification to contest in elections upto 10 years.
TDP’s fire brand MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao welcomed the verdict that restored the conviction of Sasikala Natarajan and three others. He expressed confidence that YSRCP Chief Jaganmohan Reddy also will be sentenced in the illegal assets case according to the example set by Sasikala.
He also expressed the view that the opposition leader would go through severe punishments. He is hopeful that Jaganmohan Reddy would be given 40 years of imprisonment as he is accused in 12 cases and owns Rs 42,000 crores amount of illegal money.
