Sai Dharam Tej’s latest offering ‘Subramanyam For Sale‘, which released last Friday, has been registering solid collections in both Andhra and Telangana. Directed by Harish Shankar, the film has Regina Cassandra as the film’s leading lady. Dil Raju is the producer for the film. Here, we are bringing an exclusive report on how the film is doing at the overseas box office.
After releasing in over 70 screens in the USA, the film has notched up only $133,000 at the end of the first weekend. The USA distributors invested nearly $290,000 which includes the distribution rights, theater rental and other costs. Going by the trade reports, the final collection will end near to $170,000, thus resulting in a loss close to 40 percent for the distributors.
So, it is a huge surprise to the trade circles that the film, which opened to decent numbers in India, under the tag of most successful producer Dil Raju and with good reviews all over the web couldn’t breakeven for the Overseas distributor.
Harish Shankar’s narration and his rib-tickling dialogues are the biggest assets for the film. Mickey J Meyer’s peppy music and the rich locales in songs struck a chord with the audience and in India, this movie is doing a decent business at box-office. Made with moderate budget it will end up with decent performance in India but the overseas distributor will have to suffer a considerable loss.
