Tamil director Shankar has delivered some of the biggest hits and they performed equally well in Telugu too. Films like Oke Okkadu were remade in Hindi. Jeans was also a big hit in Hindi. Gentleman, Bharateeyudu, Premikudu, Jeans, Oke Okkadu, Boys, Sivaji, Robo and Aparichitudu were rock solid hits for Shankar. The films minted huge money in Telugu too. Shankar was the first star director from South whose films did well in the neighboring languages too. Shankar had a dream to direct Telugu heroes and he wished to work with Megastar Chiranjeevi.
Though he met Chiranjeevi and discussed scripts, the film never materialized. Shankar has been trying to work with a Telugu star for the past 15 years and it is a long time. Shankar himself admitted that he met stars like Mahesh Babu and Prabhas but the films never shaped up. During the pandemic, Shankar also met Prabhas and it was unfortunate that the project did not work out. Finally, Shankar directed Ram Charan and this marks his Telugu debut. The film is aimed for January 10th, 2025 release. Shankar has delivered bigger flops like Nanban, I and Indian 2. 2.0 is a cost failure though the film was an impressive one. Game Changer is an acid test for Shankar as he has to bounce back. His next film Indian 3 has completed shoot and is struggling for buzz. Game Changer’s result will have an impact on Indian 3. Hope Game Changer gives him the needed boost and brings him back to success streak.
