Telangana Chief Minister K Chadnrasekhar Rao’s prestigious double-bed room project though may yet to take a shape at ground level,it has already attracting ire of the opposition. Congress senior leader and former Vice-Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Marri Shashidhar Reddy demanded that a criminal case be booked against Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav for his alleged involvement in irregularities allotment of double bedroom houses in IDH Colony.
It may be recalled to showcase double-bed room houses just before Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections early this year, the Telangana government has hurriedly constructed 396 houses in ADH colony, Hyderabad. Later promising around 2 lakh such houses in the city, the ruling party succeeded in winning support of slum areas. However, the promise later kept in cold storage.
Although the project was inaugurated by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on 16th November, 2015, Reddy accused that the houses were not allotted to the genuine, eligible and deserving beneficiaries.
Taking note of the large number of complaints of unfair allotment of houses or illegal occupation by un-eligible people, by breaking the locks of the houses left to be allotted, by the members of TRS party and others who are very close to local MLA and Minister Srinivas Yadav, the former minister said that he had given a written complaint to the Hyderabad District Collector on May 26, 2016, along with the proof.
Shashidhar Reddy said that a detailed enquiry was conducted not only by the Revenue officials but also by a big team of 20 officials from state intelligence department, comprising of one DSP, three Inspectors and others. “As a result of enquiry, 36 houses have been sealed and my allegations have been proved correct,” he said.
Stating that the Revenue officials would now contemplate filing of criminal cases against the people who have committed the irregularities, he demanded that a criminal case should also be booked against Srinivas Yadav for abetment to criminal actions of his followers.
