One of the main criticism on Modi after 2014 elections is his autocratic nature that was the main cause for NDA allies to leave the group. Now, it seems, BJP is trying to fix the issues and winning back it’s allies. Finally, Amit Shah discussions with Shiv Sena leadership were fruitful and Shivsena is all set to be part of NDA.
Maharashtra is crucial state for General elections. It has 48 seats out of 543 MP seats. In 2014, BJP and Shiva Sena contested together and they won 41 out of 48 seats. BJP got 22 seats and Shiva Sena got 19 seats. However later, both the parties parted their ways. Shiva Sena party leaving NDA had huge psychological impact as it was one of the biggest allies of BJP.
But just before the 2019 elections , BJP was able to strike a deal with Shivsena. As per the agreement, BJP will be contesting 25 out of 48 seats and Shivsena will be contesting remaining 23 seats. Also, both the parties will have alliance during assembly elections as well and each of them will contest half of the assembly seats.
We will have to wait and see how will be the impact of this alliance in 2019 elections.
