Hyderabad: Badminton star and silver medalist in Rio Olympics PV Sindhu has finally broke her silence over the remarks made by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali on her long term coach Pullela Gopichand.
During a press conference on Thursday, Sindhu felt that no person could fill the shoes of Gopichand. “I don’t think I could find a better coach than Gopichand sir, hope I fine-tune my skills under his training,” she said. She further said that she doesn’t want to make any more comments over the issue.
Speaking to media persons, India’s chief badminton coach Gopichand felt that the Dy Chief Minister’s comments were not made deliberately.
It may be recalled that Telangana Deputy CM’s remarks sparked controversy when he convened a press conference to hail Sindhu during her homecoming celebrations from Rio Olympics. Laying claim over Sindhu’s nativity, he said, “Sindhu hamari Telangana ki bheti hai”.
Mahmood Ali also said that the Telangana government would find a better coach than Gopichand if needed. These remarks received severe uproar from the netizens in social networking sites trolling the Deputy Chief Minister.
