The politicians may have developed their own channels and papers to take control of the mainstream media but they are facing greater problems from the social media these days. AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy has diluted the impact of anti-government ABN and Eenadu a little by branding them as biased media along caste and political lines. However, his government is facing louder criticism from the social media platforms. There has been lot of negative discussions on the spending of Rs 15 Cr AP people’s funds on Jagan’s own residential property in Tadepalli in the past 6 months. All this money was spent in the name of furniture, public facilities, regular maintenance, road development and so on.
The social media activists have made it a big issue. They have demanded that CM should better return the Rs 15 Cr funds to the government treasury. How can the CM go on getting huge amounts sanctioned for repairs and furniture on his private home? Such rising protests in social media have certainly embarrassed Jagan Reddy who has now started asking officials not to spend public funds on his house. He already cancelled a GO which was released recently sanctioning nearly Rs 3 Cr spent on Tadepalli house. All this money was sanctioned in the name of R&B department. Is CM going to spend his own money on his house from now on? Official circles say that some change is there in CM attitude towards general criticism these days.
