Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) received another jolt as two MLCs are set to join Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Akula Lalitha and Santhosh Kumar separately met TRS supremo and Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and congratulated him on becoming CM for the second term. Speculation is rife that joining of these two MLCs into TRS fold is only a formality.
On the other hand, TRS MLC Konda Muralidhar Rao, husband of former MLA Konda Surekha, will resign from his post any time. Irked by not being in the first list of 105 candidates, Surekha quit TRS and joined Congress party. Surekha contested from Parakala and lost to Dharma Reddy of TRS. Konda Murali says he would meet TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy before resigning from MLC position. Both the Konda couple were in TRS, which nominated Murali as MlC and fielded Surekha as MLA candidate in Warangal (East) constituency in 2014 elections.
Back to Congress MLCs, Akula Lalitha lost in recent Assembly elections from Armoor constituency on Congress ticket. She already met KCR along with Telangana Legislative Council deputy chairman Neti Vidyasagar and Whip Palla Rajeshwar Reddy.
Another Congress MLC Santhosh Kumar’s term is scheduled to end soon. TRS may nominate Santhosh again as MLC candidate. Santhosh along with Karimnagar Mayor Ravinder Singh, Koleti Damoder and Shankar Reddy, corporation chairmen nominated by TRS, met KCR.
Council chairman Swamy Goud has already slapped notices on Bhyupathi Reddy, Yadava Reddy, Konda Murali and Ramulu Naik. Acting upon the requests made by TRS chief Whip complained to Council chairman to disqualify these MLCs for campaigning for Congress in the recent Assembly elections.
