Finally, the stage is set to be get ready for the induction of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s son and TDP’s National General Secretary Nara Lokesh into Andhra Pradesh cabinet.
Though speculations have been going around TDP circles since over 18 months, Naidu has been avoiding from giving a direct reply on this issue. But for the first time, for the first time he has confirmed that Lokesh will be inducted into the cabinet very soon.
His induction into the cabinet is bound to leads for a major reshuffle of the state cabinet, any time before Ugadi, next month. Since the formation of the present government no changes were made in the cabinet. This reshuffle will indicates party’s preparedness for the 2019 polls.
Chandrababu Naidu has confirmed Lokesh’s induction during his meeting with party leaders from Telangana, who met him last night in Vijayawada. While discussing on the party affairs in the neighbouring state, they pleaded him to spare services of Lokesh for enthusing the party cadre in Telangana.
Politely refusing their proposal, the Chief Minister informed them it will not be possible as he would be inducted into the state cabinet very soon. It was also mentioned that Lokesh would be elected as MLC, for which elections are scheduled to be announced later this month.
Chief Minister has kept several crucial ministries with him only. They include power, industries, IT, tourism and infrastructure. TDP sources are speculating that two or three of these ministries are likely to be entrusted to Lokesh.
As 2019 elections are nearing, the Chief Minister is reportedly making an elaborate exercise for an `election cabinet’. He is said to be planning to remove few `non-performing ministers’ from the cabinet, by inducting few more.
Presently only Dr P Narayana is in the cabinet from the Legislative Council. Many senior party leaders, who are MLCs are expecting berths in the cabinet. Moreover, Chief Minister himself promised ministerial berths to several YSRCP MLAs, who had defected into TDP. There is no representation for Minorities in the cabinet.
