Prolific filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s rip roaring epic fantasy, Baahubali, has set up a new benchmark for Indian cinema after its release last year. The film has notched up unprecedented collections in India and Overseas. The distribution rights of the international cut were snapped for huge prices in various countries like China, Japan and Germany.
The shooting for the much awaited sequel is progressing at a brisk pace and the film is scheduled for release next April. The pre release business for the sequel is already scaling new heights with stunning offers from top production houses. The latest we hear is that Yash Raj Films, one of the renowned production houses in Bollywood, has offered 150 Crores for the theatrical rights and satellite rights of Baahubali 2 Hindi version.
It is well known that the first part did phenomenal business in Northern territories. The Hindi version minted more than 100 Crores, becoming the first ever South Indian film to achieve the mark. Karan Johar distributed the Hindi version on Dharma Productions banner. Now, Yash Raj Films is looking to cash in on the craze for the film and came up with a big deal. The talks are going on and we can expect an official word once the deal is completed.
