The former Rajya Sabha member Kambhampati Ram Mohan Rao, who is said to be close to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is nowadays seen discontent. He was unhappy that his term as Andhra Pradesh Special Representative in New Delhi was not extended after it was expired on June 18. He waited for few months with over-confidence that he would get an extension.
But, after removing his name board at Andhra Bhavan, New Delhi and also vacating his office room, he realised that he would not get an extension. Later, he came to know it was due to union minister Y Sujana Chowdary’s pressure that Chief Minister is avoiding him.
It may be recalled that Ram Mohan Rao used to be Chandrababu’s person in New Delhi for all his contacts, since he was in Rajya Sabha. Since a long he has been persuading for his re-nomination to Rajya Sabha. As TDP could not send more than two members when it was in opposition, he failed to get party’s nomination.
But this time after the party return to power, he was confident to get Rajya Sabha nomination and tried his best. Sujana Chowdary’s Rajya Sabha term was also ended early this year and he was also in the race for re-nomination. At one stage Kambhampati emerged as a major contender for the lone seat kept for his caste.
This has upset Sujana Chowdary, who didn’t expect that he too need to lobby for his Rajya Sabha seat, having mobilising hundreds of crores of rupees for the party’s existence since last ten years. Realising that Kambhampati’s presence in New Delhi would be disastrous for his `political existence’ in the party, he said to be obstructed Kambhampati’s re-nomination as Special Representative of the state.
He is trying to assert his position with a firm decision he only should be `window’ for Chandrababu Naidu in the national capital. Moreover, Kambhampati meeting various central ministers on behalf of Chandrababu Naidu is also making him impatient. However, even without a formal status, Kambhampati attempting to continue his hold in New Delhi.
