Kadapa is chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s borough. He has swept the district by winning all the MLA and MP seats. In the local body elections too, it was a clean sweep. The ruling party is in a formidable position in Kadapa with Jagan giving a large number of nominated posts to the leaders from the district.
Yet, the YSRCP cadre is dissatisfied and deeply unhappy. The party leaders in the district are disappointed. This fact came to the fore in a recent review meeting of party’s key functionary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy with the leaders from Kadapa. The party leaders and cadre poured out their tales of woes and this reportedly left Sajjala shocked. Those who got nominated posts said they were given positions that do not have any real power. They pointed out that their posts were merely ornamental. Those who did not get the nominated posts were unhappy because they were ignored despite long years of service to the party. They said that despite working for YS Jagan during trying times, the party has not recognized them.
But, by far the biggest complaint was about pending bills and non-payment of arrears. Several leaders had told Sajjala that their bills had remained pending for over two years and as a result, they were getting mired in debts. The leaders requested Sajjala to ensure that their bills are paid promptly. Some even told Sajjala that it was a shade better during the TDP regime as the payments were prompt. Some leaders even faulted Jagan’s sand policy and said that the builders were facing huge problems because of the faulty sand policy.
A shocked Sajjala merely told the leaders that he would come every month and hold a review meeting with the party workers and leaders. He also assured to get their pending bills passed at the earliest. He told them that he will convey their feelings to YS Jagan.
