Comedian-turned-actor Sunil Varma is turning out be a nightmare for the overseas distributors. Continuing his flop saga, Sunil has bagged yet another embarrassing disaster in the form of his recent release, Jakkanna. Sunil hasn’t had a decent hit in the last three years as films like Mr. Pellikoduku, Bhimavaram Bullodu and Krishnastami ended as huge disasters. Similarly, Jakkanna is also heading towards a severe box office dud.
Sunil’s last film Krishnastami, produced by Dil Raju, was bought for one crore in overseas and the distributor has lost all his investment as the film was declared the mother of all disasters by trade circles. Also, both Mr. Pellikoduku and Bhimavaram Bullodu have ended on a poor note in overseas. Continuing his dandayatra on overseas audience, Sunil’s latest outing Jakanna is heading towards being the biggest disaster as the film failed to recover even the expenses. Jakanna was sold for free in overseas and still it is going to be a loss venture for the distributor. The producer of Jakanna forced the distributor to release the film in 70 locations, but the good thing is it was released only in 12 screens leaving the distributor with a little loss.
It is high time that the Sunil should come up with sensible content in upcoming movies to prove his point on turning a hero when he was ruling the roost as a top comedian.
